The AskGamblers Awards

The largest player-voted award in the business, and one of only two in our set that keeps every edition since its first.

A player vote that keeps its own receipts

The shape of an archive decides the words an honest reader is allowed to use, and this body demonstrates it twice over: because every edition since the first is published with first, second and third place set out, a result here can be described as a "runner-up" (second place, which is not a win) instead of being flattened into something grander. Most bodies on this site make that impossible, by printing a "winner" and then stopping dead.

The awards are run by AskGamblers (a review portal inside the Gentoo Media group, drawing its revenue from the same brands that appear on its ballot) as a single annual series rather than as a regional family, and the first edition was held in 2017 with the ninth falling in 2026. Nine editions, one page, and a "podium" (first, second and third, printed for every category) on each of them.

The objection, which is sharper here than at a magazine

A review portal giving prizes to the operators it reviews has a conflict that no trade magazine can match, because the portal's revenue arrives through the same brands that appear on its ballot. That is the objection in its strongest form, and nothing in this page is meant to soften it.

What the body offers against it is participation and a record. The vote is free for the players who cast it, with any cost to an operator left undeclared, and the two stages are described plainly enough that a reader can picture the funnel: registered players "nominate" (put a brand forward, from an account on the portal) the houses they want to see, and then those players and the portal's own "specialists" (its internal and external reviewers, voting alongside the public) produce ten "finalists" (the ten names in contention, published for each category) before any winner is named.

That "player vote" design spreads the decision across a crowd rather than a committee, which answers part of the conflict and leaves the rest standing. A crowd can be campaigned for. The portal's own forum is where a campaign of that kind would run (a thread, a following, a reason for members to turn out), and the brands that take these categories are, so far as we could see, newer houses with an active audience there rather than the large groups that dominate the trade ceremonies.

What it publishes, in a form no other body matches

Every edition from 2017 to 2025 sits on a single winners page (nine years, one address, three positions apiece), which is the most generous disclosure of any body on this site and the cheapest to verify.

The podium is the whole point, and it is worth saying why at some length.

A published winner alone lets a brand claim a win and leaves everybody else in silence; a published podium lets a reader say precisely where a brand finished, which converts a vague badge into a "placing" (second or third, with a number attached to it). It also makes a false claim cheap to disprove, since a brand missing from three published positions is missing from the record rather than merely unlucky. That distinction is where most of the work on this site happens!

What it does not publish, which is the usual pair

There is no "adjudicator" (somebody from outside, counting the votes again) named at this body, and the "entry terms" (what, if anything, an operator pays or undertakes) are declared only for the voters, who pay nothing at all (free to cast a vote, with the operator side of the arrangement unstated). Those two gaps are shared with most of the set, since nine of the eleven name no adjudicator either, and here the archive compensates for them more than it does anywhere else.

The scoring rule inside the second stage is also unpublished, so the weight given to the portal's reviewers against the weight given to the players is not a number anybody outside the building can see; one other body in our set does publish that proportion, and the comparison is not flattering here. We would rather have that number than another category.

The one page that settles most arguments about this body

Every edition from 2017 onwards is listed at awards.askgamblers.com/winners, with three positions per category. Open the year, find the category as the portal words it, and read all three lines before deciding what a badge is entitled to say. A brand missing from all three lines did not place, and on the pages we read that is the commonest outcome by a wide margin.

Three placings, no win, and why the words matter

No brand we list stands at the top of a category here, and one of them has placed three times. Videoslots was runner-up for "Best Casino" in 2018 and again in 2021, and took "third place" in "Players' Choice" in 2018, all three recorded on the portal's own winners page (the strongest source level we use, the body's own record) and all three to the website itself rather than its parent.

Three placings and no win is an unglamorous line, and it is the line the evidence supports. A second place in a player vote with ten finalists is a real achievement and it is not a victory, and the distance between those two statements is exactly the distance this site exists to hold open. The same brand stood at nine point three on Casino Guru's "Safety Index" (a rating with published arithmetic, run by a different body again) against seventy-one complaints, read on 20 October 2026, which measures something else entirely.

The claim that failed, and the reason it was easy to check

One brand we list is described elsewhere as the holder of an AskGamblers award, and this archive disposes of the claim in about a minute. LuckyDays does not appear in any edition from 2017 to 2026, not as a winner, not in second or third place, and not among the ten finalists of any category we opened. The ninth edition went elsewhere entirely, with 24Casino taking "Best Casino", SafeCasino taking two headings and bet365 the sportsbook, while the body's own release and its forum disagree over the crypto category.

"LuckyDays won an AskGamblers Award"
The brand appears in none of the editions we read, from 2017 to 2026, and not among the finalists either.
"A brand in our register won an AskGamblers Award 2026"
Neither list of winners for the ninth edition, the body's release and its forum, carries a brand in our register: "Best Casino" went to 24Casino, "Best New Casino" and "Players' Choice" to SafeCasino, "Best Sportsbook" to bet365. The two lists also disagree over "Best Crypto Casino", CasCada in the release and Vavada on the forum. The shortlist of ten finalists in each category stays unverified, because the body's winners page has no 2026 tab and replaces every casino name with "Restricted in your country". Check it.

That is the archive earning its keep, and it is the reason we rate a complete record above a published process when the two cannot both be had. A process tells you how a decision was meant to be taken; a record tells you what was actually decided, and only one of the two can be checked by somebody who was not in the room.

The check, which reads the podium rather than the headline

Open the year, find the category as the portal words it ("Best Casino" and not best casino), and read three lines instead of one. If your brand sits on the second or third line the correct word is a placing, and if it sits nowhere on the page the correct word is nothing whatever, which is a sentence most pages in this trade decline to write at any price.

Then notice what the vote measures, since that is the part a badge never carries: an active following on one portal's forum in one year. It is a real signal about enthusiasm and a weak one about "conduct" (how a house behaves when a player disagrees with it), and a reader who keeps those apart will get more out of this body than out of any trophy on it!

Questions

Has any casino on this site won one?

None has won a category. One has placed three times, second twice and third once, and the brands that win these are generally newer houses with a strong following on the portal's own forum.
