The EGR Awards
EGR runs the awards that the operators themselves treat as the serious ones, and it is the only trade body in our set whose main ceremony names an auditor.

A publisher's prizes, and the one part of them a stranger can check
A trade magazine handing prizes to the companies that buy its advertising is the sharpest form of the problem with this whole category, and EGR Global is also the body whose prizes the operators themselves (the people who pay for the tables, and who enter the categories) treat as the ones worth winning. Both things are true at once, and the second does nothing at all to cancel the first.
EGR Global publishes for the online gambling trade (a magazine, a jury and a dinner, in that order) and runs four award series rather than one: the "EGR Operator Awards" for operators, the "EGR Europe Awards" for a set of regional operator categories, the "EGR B2B Awards" for suppliers, and the "EGR Italy Awards" for a single national market. Four series means four juries, four nights and, for anybody chasing a badge back to the room it came from, four separate pages to open.
The objection, which arrives before any method
The objection writes itself: the publisher sells advertising to the entrants, so a trophy is a line in a media plan rather than a finding about a casino. It is answerable here, in our reading, in one series and only in part.
EGR names Deloitte as the "adjudicator" (the firm overseeing how the jury's votes are collected and counted, which is not the same as picking who deserves them) at the Operator Awards, and only one other body on this whole site names an auditor of any kind. The guarantee is procedural rather than editorial. It says nothing about whether the better operator won, it reaches one series out of the four, and the series it leaves uncovered include the Italian one where the most recent results on this page were settled.
How the winners are chosen, in the body's own words
The published method is a "jury of industry professionals" (the magazine's own phrase, and the only phrase it offers on the subject), and that phrase is close to the whole of it, because the weighting each juror applies and the rule that settles a tie between two entries are nowhere set down; a reader is left with the word "professionals" and the names of the winners.
The entry terms are not declared either (no fee, no statement that there is none, no conditions), which on this site counts as a datum and not as a failure of searching, since what an entrant pays is a matter between EGR and the entrant until one of them publishes it.
Set against that silence, the body prints its "shortlist" (the finalists in each category, and not the winner alone) and maintains a results page for each year of each series, which in our view is the sturdiest archive among the trade publishers we read. An archive sounds clerical (a filing matter, and nothing more) until a badge dated 2019 surfaces on a casino page in 2026 and somebody has to settle whether it was ever real.
Two changes that will trip a reader up
The "EGR Nordics Awards" no longer exist as a night of their own. They were folded into the Europe series, which now carries an operator of the year category for each of four regions (Western Europe, the Nordics and Baltics, the Balkans and Southern Europe, and Central and Eastern Europe), so a Nordic result from after the merger sits on a page headed Europe and nowhere else.
The Europe ceremony of 2026 was held on the eighteenth of February at the Hilton in Malta, and the B2B night on the third of June in London.
Anybody quoting a Nordics trophy from recent years is quoting a series that has been absorbed, and an honest version of it would name the Europe edition together with the regional heading inside it.
The record one brand built here, read line by line
One brand here holds EGR results, and their shape repays a slow reading. At the Operator Awards, "Casino Operator of the Year" went to 888 Casino in 2013, in 2019 and once more in 2021, a sequence its own announcement of that third year describes as the third such win; the same announcement adds "In-House Product of the Year", and that one went to the group (the company then called 888 Holdings and trading today as evoke Plc) rather than to the casino.
The Italian series, a separate night on a separate licence before a separate jury, gave the Italian brand two categories in 2024: "Casino operator of the year" and "Mobile operator of the year", out of six entries filed (six, by the count in the trade report that carried the result). In 2025 the group took "Best Product Innovation" there and was "Highly commended" (a notch below a win, and written here as a notch below a win) for "Operator of the Year". Further back still, "Socially Responsible Operator of the Year" in 2012 was a shortlisting at group level (one of several names on a list, with the trophy going elsewhere). The current year adds a candidacy and not a win: the Italian brand is in the running for "Premio performance operatore (powered by H2 Gambling Capital)", a heading new for 2026, alongside Betsson, Eurobet, Lottomatica and Sisal, and the winners were still unpublished when we read the page on the day of the ceremony at the Rome Cavalieri.
A candidacy is not a win!
Then the awkward part, which belongs in the body of the page rather than in a footnote. Not one of those results reached us through EGR's own archive: three came from the company's press releases (one of them a regulated announcement by a listed company, which is the strongest form the operator's own word can take), one from the Italian trade press (a weaker source than the body itself, and a stronger one than a rival's marketing), and the 2025 pair from the group's newsroom. We looked for all seven on EGR's own pages, and we found none of them there. The body with the auditor is the body whose results we found everywhere except on the site that awarded them.
Where to look this up yourself
The winners pages live under awards.egr.global, one address for each series and each year, and the 2025 operator results sit at awards.egr.global/egroperatoraward/en/page/2025-winners. Establish the series before the year: an Italy result will never appear on an Operator Awards page, and the two are quoted interchangeably by pages that have not noticed the difference.
The check, which runs in two steps here rather than one
Establish the series first, because that one step disposes of most of the confusion on this subject, and it costs you nothing but a glance at the badge. Then open the matching year, read the category heading exactly as EGR prints it rather than as your badge paraphrases it, and see whether the line names the casino itself, the group standing above it, or a sister brand sharing the same licence.
- "888casino won the EGR Operator of the Year 2019"
- The category named in the regulatory news release of the listed company is "Casino Operator of the Year". The wider wording comes from an article that reads as advertising, and the release is the word that counts.
- "Videoslots was shortlisted for employer of the year at the EGR Operator Awards 2026"
- The shortlist carries "Immense Group", the parent company, and not the site; an employer category is not an award to the casino. The same shortlist puts Mr Vegas among the entries for "Marketing campaign of the year – B2C", and that is not videoslots.com either. Check it.
- "888casino won a category at the EGR Italy Awards 2026"
- The ceremony falls on 20 October 2026, and when we read it the body's page published the finalists only. 888casino is shortlisted for "Premio performance operatore (powered by H2 Gambling Capital)", and until the announcement that is a nomination. Check it.
Two claims we met failed at precisely that step. One widened "Casino Operator of the Year" into the much grander "Operator of the Year", a category the company's own regulated statement never claimed; the other pinned a "rising star" heading on a casino when the trophy had gone to a stablemate under the same ownership. The 2026 Operator shortlist repeats the pattern, carrying the parent company and the sister brand where a reader might expect the casino.
If your badge predates 2024 the series matters even more, because the Nordic night still existed then and its results have since moved. A reader who separates the four series and then reads the recipient line will survive nearly every EGR badge now in circulation, and will also find that the sound ones hold up perfectly well under the test. Four nights, four pages, and about ninety seconds for each of them!

Questions
Do the EGR Nordics Awards still exist?
No. They were folded into the EGR Europe Awards, which now carry a separate operator category for the Nordics and Baltics instead of a separate ceremony.
What does Deloitte actually do?
It adjudicates the vote at the Operator Awards, which means it oversees the count rather than choosing the winners. That is a narrower claim than the one some pages make, and it is still more than most bodies offer.
Has any casino on this site won an EGR award?
One has. 888 Casino took Casino Operator of the Year in 2013, 2019 and 2021, and the Italian brand took two categories in 2024 and one in 2025.
