National awards in the regulated markets
Four of the markets this site writes for license online casinos inside their own borders, and the awards that follow those same borders turn out to be fewer, and stranger, than the licences are.

A licence follows a border, and an award follows a trade
The two things look alike on a casino page and come from opposite directions, which is the whole difficulty of this subject: a licence is granted inside a border by an authority that can take it away. An award, by contrast, is handed out at a dinner by a magazine, an association or a public vote, and the dinner does not care where anybody lives (the winner of a "European" category may be licensed on three continents and in none of them). So a reader who has found a "regulated" market (one where the operator must hold a local permission before it may advertise) naturally expects a local prize to go with it.
In four markets out of seven, that expectation turns out to be quite wrong.
The objection comes first, as usual, and it is a reasonable one: perhaps the local awards exist and we simply failed to find them. That is why each market below says what was opened and what came back. Where an award exists we name it, read its "archive" (the pages where past winners stay readable years afterwards) and say who won; where none exists we say so plainly, and the sentence "we found none" is doing work that a blank space never does.
Britain, which has one and it is not the one you would guess
The award that follows the British border is the "WhichBingo Awards" (a player vote run by a "comparison site", meaning a site that ranks operators and earns from the links to them, with twenty-one categories decided by readers and four chosen by its editors), held on 13 May 2026 at the Sunborn in Gibraltar. It keeps an archive from 2014 to 2026, which is better than most trade bodies manage, and we read all thirteen years of it before writing this line: no brand on this site has ever won one of them, in any category, in any year.
Beside it sit the "UK and Ireland" categories inside the EGR Europe series, which is a "trade award" (one decided inside the industry, by people who work in it) with a national heading rather than a national award, and the distinction matters when somebody quotes one: the night is international, the jury is the same jury, and only the category name is local. The EGR Marketing & Innovation series, which some older pages still cite, has been dormant since 2025 (no edition, no announcement, and the name still in circulation) and its categories have gone back into the Operator Awards!
Spain, where the award belongs to the trade association
The "Premios Jdigital" are run by the Asociación Española de Juego Digital (the trade body for licensed online gambling in Spain, speaking for the companies that belong to it), and they publish a winners archive covering 2022 to 2025 at their own address (`premiosjdigital.es`, which took some finding, because several pages of the trade press point somewhere else). That archive is the reason this market can be written about at all, and it is a recent improvement rather than a long habit.
Eleven brands on this site hold Spanish licences under five "licence holders" (the company a permission is issued to, which is very often not the name on the website), and not one of them has ever won a Jdigital category as far as the published archive goes. Two limits belong beside that sentence. The editions before 2022 are not published anywhere we could reach, and an association's award is decided by the companies that make up the association, which is a method worth knowing before a badge from it impresses anybody.
Ontario and Alberta, which register and never reward
Two Canadian provinces run the strictest registration regimes in this site's range, and neither has an award for an online casino operator.
The only Canadian trade award we found, the "Canadian Gaming Industry Awards" (run by the Canadian Gaming Association, the industry body for the whole country), gives prizes for leadership and for "First Nation gaming", and has no category for an operator of any kind, and from 2026 the summit that carried it became the SBC Summit Canada, which runs no awards programme whatever.
So an Ontario brand page claiming a "provincial award" is describing something that does not exist, and the thing it is usually describing is the registration itself, which your province publishes and which anybody can read. That substitution is common enough that it has its own entry below.
- "Genting Casino, Spin Genie, Mega Casino, Prime Casino or Lord Ping won the EGR Europe UK and Ireland Operator of the year 2026"
- PlayOJO won it, and PlayOJO is SkillOnNet's own brand rather than one of the SkillOnNet brands listed on this site. It is the same reason no SkillOnNet award appears on the Genting Casino card. Check it.
- "Betway is a WhichBingo Awards winner"
- Betway Bingo won "Best New Online Bingo Site" in 2015, and Betway Bingo is the British bingo product rather than a brand in our register, where the only Betway entry is betwayca. We read all thirteen pages of the 2014 to 2026 archive: no brand in the register appears among the winners. Check it.
- "There is a United States state award for an online casino"
- We found none in New Jersey, Michigan or Pennsylvania: the one national United States award is the American Gambling Awards, and it held no edition in 2026. What the state registers carry on the brands in our register are not awards but cease and desist letters, which we record as regulatory actions.
- "The Canadian Game Awards 2026 gave an award to an online casino"
- They are a video game award with no connection to gambling. They fill almost every result of a search for Canadian awards in this industry.
Québec, Australia, and the United States
Québec issues no licence of its own (no register, no registration, no list to read), so there is no border for an award to follow, and nothing was expected or found. Australia prohibits the offering of online casino games to anybody in the country, which makes the absence of an Australian award for online casinos a consequence rather than an oversight: there is no lawful industry there to hold a ceremony for.
The United States has one national award and no state ones at all, and the national one is of no use to a reader here: the "American Gambling Awards" admit only operators holding a licence in a United States jurisdiction, which excludes every brand on this site by construction, and they announced no 2026 edition (the site still shows the winners of 2025). Several pages assert that individual states run awards for online casinos; we looked, found that the "state awards" they name are industry conferences, and found no state award of any kind.
The substitution that this page exists to undo
A licence, a registration and an "award" (an opinion, in the end, and nothing more) are three different objects, and the first two keep being presented as the third. A licence is a permission granted on conditions, and a regulator can suspend it, fine its holder or take it away. A "registration" (the word Ontario and Alberta use for an object of exactly the same kind) is that same permission under another name. An award is an opinion expressed once, by a jury or by a vote, about a single year, and it carries no conditions and no consequences at all.
The useful consequence is that the first two are far stronger evidence than the third, and they are also the ones you can verify in a minute. You can read a licence number in a "public register" (the authority's own searchable list, free to anybody), see the company holding it, and see exactly what that company is permitted to offer. Nobody can verify an opinion, and nobody should ever be asked to!
What a reader can do with all this
Three habits cover almost every national badge you will meet.
Check whether the name of the market appears in the name of the body or only in the name of the category, because the second is an international award wearing a local hat; check whether the body publishes an archive, since a national award with no past editions readable is a press release with a trophy in it, and check whether what is being described is a permission rather than a prize, which is the commonest of the three by a long way.
None of that needs us, and that is rather the point of writing it down. A reader holding those three questions will see through a national badge faster than the page displaying it can finish its sentence.

Questions
Does the United Kingdom have an award for online casinos?
It has the WhichBingo Awards, voted by players across twenty-one categories, with an archive running from 2014 to 2026. We read all thirteen years, and no brand on this site has ever won one.
Is an Ontario registration an award?
No. A registration is a permission to trade, granted on conditions the holder can be punished for breaking, and nobody voted on it. A page listing a registration under an awards heading has changed the subject.
