G2E, SiGMA, and the fairs without a ceremony
One of the largest fairs in the world runs no award at all, and one of the fastest growing runs a ceremony at every stop of a nine-city circuit.

One exhibition hands out nothing, one circuit hands out everywhere
Two habits sit at the opposite ends of this business, and setting them beside each other says more about what an award is for than any single ceremony could. One of the largest exhibitions in the world runs no competition of its own, while one of the fastest growing operations runs a ceremony at every stop of a world "circuit" that now reaches nine regions.
The quick reading is that the fair without a prize is the honest one and the circuit with nine of them is the suspect one. That is too fast in both directions, because what the two of them show between them is that an award is a feature of the events business rather than a judgement that happens to be held at an event.
Las Vegas, in the last week of September
The Global Gaming Expo fills The Venetian Expo from 28 September to 1 October 2026 (RX operates it for the American Gaming Association, and the dates we checked overlap the Lisbon summit almost exactly), and its own programme announces no award of any kind. The 2027 edition is booked for 27 to 30 September, and nothing in the schedule we read suggests that this will change before then.
Two other bodies hold their ceremonies in the same city during those same days (two of them, and neither is the fair). The Global Gaming Awards "Americas" are given on 28 September 2026 (the opening day of the exhibition), and the Gaming Intelligence North American "winners" are released across four days (28 September to 1 October), which makes the second of them a week of announcements rather than an evening with a dinner attached.
The result is a credit that lands in the wrong place, since a trophy handed over in Las Vegas during that week is routinely attributed to the exhibition; the exhibition gave out nothing. A badge naming the fair rather than the body is not a small slip, because there is no page anywhere that could confirm it and no body to ask.
We would not read the absence as modesty, either. An exhibition that sells floor space has no vote to manage (no ballots, no judges, no shortlist) and therefore nothing to disclose, so the decision not to hold a ceremony is a commercial one, and a body that does hold one has taken the opposite commercial decision.
The American Gambling Awards, which cover that same regulated market and publish both their judges and their scoring, are not attached to this exhibition either, and a reader looking for an American award with a method should look there rather than at the fair, where nothing of the kind is on offer, though no 2026 "edition" of that award had been announced when we read it and only operators holding an American "state licence" may enter.
The circuit with a ceremony at every stop
SiGMA holds an award evening at each "summit" of a world tour, and the series cover Europe, the World edition, Italy, Africa, Asia, South America, North America, Eurasia and South Asia (nine of them, by our count). Nine series, and a ceremony at every "stop" of the tour!
The European edition is the one that moved: the "flagship" is now SiGMA World at the Fiera Roma (2 to 5 November 2026), renamed as well as relocated, with the World awards handed over on the opening night (2 November) and the SiGMA "Italia" Awards on the fifth, at the Corsie Sistine. Neither of those two evenings had been held when we wrote this page (20 October 2026).
The method is published, which is more than several richer bodies manage: anyone who works in the industry may put a company forward, the company itself included, the five strongest entries become the "shortlist" (five names, where the Barcelona ceremonies print ten), and the winner is settled seventy per cent by a "jury" and thirty per cent by a "public vote".
What the body does not publish is a price, and the gaps in it are the familiar ones. No "adjudicator" is named for the count, the "entry terms" are not declared, and the archive runs to a page for each summit, which on our six tests leaves it passing two of them and failing four.
Reading the two of them together
One organisation sells a hall and announces nothing; another sells a hall and announces something new every few weeks. Both are selling the same commodity, which is a week of the industry's attention, and the trophies are an optional extra on an invoice that somebody has already signed. The invoice is the same either way.
The Gaming Intelligence case sits between the two and earns a line of its own. Its first edition was held in 2015 (by its own account), its method has never been published, and its archive is a single page for 2024; a result from it can be entirely real and still be impossible for us to confirm two years later.
The arithmetic is the part a reader can use, because a body running nine ceremonies in a year, with five names in every category, produces a great many "finalists", and the badge on a casino page is one of those rather than one of a handful, which is worth holding in mind before the word impresses anybody.
So name the body before you name the city, and we print both on every row for that reason. The city tells you where the room was hired and nothing else, the body tells you who voted and under which rule (a jury, a crowd, or both in a stated proportion), and only one of those two facts will still be checkable once the exhibition has moved to another country.

Questions
Does G2E really give no awards?
Its own programme announces none. Two other bodies hold ceremonies in Las Vegas in the same week, which is how the confusion starts, and a result from one of those is not a G2E result.
